Preparation began in October 2025 and IAMP was formally established in September 2026 in San Diego, California. It was built on a simple but radical idea: that artificial intelligence, mathematics, and psychology are not separate fields — they are facets of a single inquiry into the nature of intelligence itself.
From a Bold Idea to a Global Institution
In October 2025, a group of leading researchers — frustrated by the walls between their disciplines — began planning an institution where those walls did not exist. A place where a mathematician could collaborate with a neuroscientist as easily as with a colleague in the same department. Where an AI engineer would learn psychological theory, and a psychologist would learn to build models.
In September 2026, IAMP was formally established in San Diego, California, USA. Today, it is a thriving research community of Fellows, Researchers, and Postdoctoral scholars. Our members publish in the world's top journals, and our research shapes policy on AI ethics and safety across multiple nations.
As AI transforms every aspect of society, the need for interdisciplinary understanding has never been greater — and IAMP is uniquely positioned to provide it.
